We finally defrosted it, and one morning Gord cut it down into a much smaller roast. We'd borrowed his parents' mincer, so here he is feeding the cut-off bits through. Have to admit, I was grossed out - dunno if that's a pregnancy thing, or my city-slicker heritage coming through, but it made me feel squeamish! The end result, the mince, was fine, it was just watching the bigger chunks get churned and squished down the funnel - euww!
Mince, glorious mince!
Anticipating the food!
The feast! Roast turkey with roast potatoes, roast beets, maple glazed parsnip, spaghetti squash (which is an amazingly textured vegetable, you should try it sometime! It really is like spaghetti!), homemade cravy (of course), brussels sprouts, vinegared cucumbers (Gord's favourite), balsamic-marinated mushrooms, and a salad that we didn't even touch cos there was so much other food! And then fruit salad and cake! Crikey!
Shaun and Zach came over to help us eat it all - thanks guys! Nice to hang out...
